Our friendly local keyholders will meet you at the house on arrival, show you around, and be on hand to help with any problems. Our welcome booklet will help you make a start to find your way around the area with its attractive towns and stunning wildlife.
Enjoy the sunshine coast
Our house is situated in El Mojon (pronounced Mo-hon), a small, low-rise development sandwiched between the Mediterranean and the salt lakes at the northern edge of the Mar Menor. The area enjoys a wonderful climate with around 320 days of sunshine a year, yet remains one of Spain’s lesser-known holiday destinations. Even in winter this coast rarely sees temperatures fall lower than 11 degrees centigrade, whilst in summer there is almost always a cooling breeze from the sea.
The Mar Menor is Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon, a remarkable inland sea separated from the Mediterranean by a 22 kilometre spit known as La Manga. On its north-eastern edge, literally a five-minute walk from our house, the Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by the magnificent San Pedro Salt-marshes Regional Park with its unique ecology and wealth of bird life, ideal for birdwatching holidays. Five minutes away by car you can sample state-of-the-art spa treatments or traditional mud baths and seawater therapy.
El Mojon has a lovely seafront promenade, landscaped squares and children’s play areas, fringed with palm trees. There are a few bars and restaurants, a small supermarket and a pharmacy. A wide variety of bars and restaurants is available in nearby towns and villages just a few minutes drive away. Historic Spanish cities, away from the usual tourist trail, such as Murcia and Cartagena, are within easy reach.
